America: The best because we're American.
Every now and again, I look at America and think "Holy crap, that is a broken country."

And then I chat to an American, and realise that they're proud to be broken. They resent any implication that being broken isn't the best way to be.

I could say more (and in fact did, but have gone back and deleted it) but you've heard it all before. Inspired by this article.

I'm sure many are proud, but you have to take into account the saturation of brainwashing media and corporate bribes. Just look at what we're doing with GM. "Oh, look, here's a completely failed company deep in the hole, let's give them tons of money!" And many people feel it is right to save them, because they were the bread and butter of the nation. Health care is even worse: it isn't just executives pulling in favours from golf buddies, but corporations with insane amounts of money.

"Stay the course" is really simple for people to say. Better the known evil and all of that.
