Peter prevents Repetitive Strain Injury, mouse-hand-style!
Apparently a good way to prevent RSI is to switch which hand you use your mouse with. Today I am switching mouse-hand. In about 5 years time, someone remind me to switch back again, okay? Thanks!
(if it is an interesting experience I will blog about it again but if not then this is all you will ever hear about it.)
EDIT: So far using the mouse with the other hand is easy, but I'm doing absolutely nothing that requires precision beyond "Clicking on buttons". If I have to do any drawing, I'll more than likely switch to the other hand.
This guide on RSI Prevention was a good read - apparently resting your wrists (originally typed as "wresting your wrists") is a bad thing to do. You're meant to let them hover. It also has the note "A solution that will not work is switching which hand you use to click the mouse. This may provide temporary relief, but soon your other hand will be as bad as the first."
I'm going to keep on using my other hand to mouse for now, just because it's interesting, but I think I'm also going to look into getting a trackball. Interesting stuff!
